Join a group to continue keeping La Crosse safe. Riverwatch was created after a series of Mississippi River drownings in the 2000s as a community collaboration.
Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night; a group of volunteers patrols Riverside Park with the goal of intercepting intoxicated community members before a dangerous situation occurs.
About 10 minutes before the start of your shift, meet at the lobby of the Raddison Hotel to check-in and receive instructions. Shifts run from 11p-1a and 1a-3a each night.
Volunteers will be walking Riverside Park, from the North-end boat landing to the South-end near the Waterfront restaurant. Participants should dress warmly for the weather and expect to be outdoors/walking for the duration of each shift. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up in pairs whenever possible to ensure proper coverage!
Volunteers should call the La Crosse Police Non-Emergency Number (608-782-7575) if there are any concerning individuals or interactions that require extra support. More info is included in the check-in process at the start of each shift.
Please complete the waiver attached to the Need and turn in to the check-in at the start of the shift.
