Just outside of the downtown area is the Lacrosse Regional Airport. The USO offers a great way to volunteer and still get homework done. Join the airport team and staff the USO for military traveling to and from the area for school, training, and leisure. This quiet location is perfect for someone who needs volunteer credit but also needs time to study. You can do both at the USO!
Duty Shift Volunteer - This location is open year-round and serves the population that trains at Fort McCoy. This position is for those 16+ who are available for at least 2 hours a week. The Center Representative Volunteer will assist with day-to-day operations, programs, events, and activities of a USO center.

• Sound sense of judgment and sensitivity to handle any controversial or confidential situations

• Must be punctual, organized and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing needs of USO Operations.
• Willingness to learn basic operating knowledge of computers and gaming equipment such as Volunteers.USO.org, Xbox, and PlayStation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit, and/or background screening. (No felonies in past 3 years.)
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods of time Volunteer Duties
• Greet, welcome, orient, and assist guests
• Monitor and maintain food and supplies
• Tidy and clean the center which can include trash removal and bathroom cleaning
• answer visitor’s questions about the USO and the surrounding community
• Practice safe food handling and storage practices.
• Assist with the usage of computers, gaming equipment, telephones, or other offerings
• Help conduct events and programs in the center such as: United Through Reading’s Military Program, Welcome Homes, and holiday celebrations
• Document hours volunteered in Volunteers.USO.org
• Other duties as assigned
Level of Authority Work is: planned, delegated, supervised, and monitored by center staff. Volunteers are expected and encouraged to take on appropriate levels of responsibility within the boundaries of USO policies, procedures, organizational values, and standards of conduct. Volunteers are prohibited from exercising their decision-making authority outside of these procedures and policies. This document does not constitute an employment agreement between the USO and the volunteer and is subject to change at any time by the USO at its sole discretion as to the needs of the USO and the requirements of the job change.

Time Commitment: Ideal Volunteers should be looking to help for 2-4 hours weekly. Shifts are open Thursday - Sunday 10 am - 6 pm.
